Khaberni - Today, Sunday, Professor Dr. Khaled El-Salem, President of the Jordan University of Science and Technology, welcomed His Beatitude Cardinal Patriarch Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, and the Latin Patriarchal Vicar in Jordan, Bishop Eyad Twal, along with several esteemed fathers. This visit is part of his official tour of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, which includes numerous religious sites and academic and community institutions.
The visit comes within the framework of enhancing the bridges of dialogue and understanding between cultures and religions, where His Eminence listened to a briefing about the university's journey and its academic achievements, and its leading role in serving the local and regional community.
El-Salem emphasized that Jordan, under its Hashemite leadership, is a solid example of entrenching the values of coexistence and fraternity among the various components of society. Here, the meanings of mutual respect, cultural, and religious diversity inherent in the fabric of society are embodied in their most beautiful forms.
He added that the university draws on these values in its educational and humanitarian mission through an open academic environment that promotes dialogue, embraces diversity, and contributes to preparing aware generations that believe in the importance of peace and understanding among peoples.
For his part, His Beatitude Cardinal Patriarch Pierbattista Pizzaballa expressed his profound appreciation for the vital role played by the Jordan University of Science and Technology and other Jordanian universities in embedding the message of knowledge and enhancing the culture of dialogue and peace. He affirmed that academic institutions are a fundamental cornerstone in building bridges of understanding between peoples.
He praised the advanced academic level enjoyed by the Jordan University of Science and Technology and the educational environment supportive of creativity and innovation, considering it a model to follow in embracing diversity and enhancing shared human values.
