Elephants Crush American Hunter to Death

Khaberni - An American hunter specialized in big game hunting was killed after being trampled by a group of elephants during a hunting trip in Gabon.

The well-known hunter Ernie Dusio (75 years old), was hunting antelopes in Gabon, Central Africa, when the incident occurred last Friday.

While in the Lopé Okanda rainforest, Dusio and his guide were attacked by 5 female elephants accompanied by one of their young, resulting in his death.

According to the British "Daily Mail" newspaper, the "Collect Africa" company, which organizes safari trips, confirmed the death of their client and reported that the professional hunter accompanying him suffered serious injuries during the encounter.

The newspaper mentioned that officials from the US Embassy in Libreville are currently coordinating the return of Dusio's body to California.

Over the years, the wealthy hunter gathered a large collection of hunting memorabilia, including animals like elephants and lions.

Gabon's forests are home to about 95,000 "forest" elephants, which is most of the world's population of this species, noted to be severely endangered.

Every year, hunters are responsible for killing tens of thousands of wild animals around the world.

Legal hunting trips in Africa are popular among some wealthy Americans, including Donald Trump Jr., who was photographed holding a severed elephant's tail more than a decade ago.
