Khaberni - The US Federal Prosecutor announced that the suspect in the shooting incident during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, where President Donald Trump was present, will appear in court on Monday.
Fox News reported that the shooting suspect is named "Cole Thomas Allen", from California, and is 31 years old.
The suspect, who exchanged fire with Secret Service agents without being hit himself, will appear before a judge on Monday.
The Federal Prosecutor Janine Pirro announced that the suspect will be charged with using a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and assaulting a federal officer with a dangerous weapon.
Mayor of Washington DC Muriel Bowser, early Sunday, reported that the suspect involved in the shooting incident during a high-level correspondents’ dinner attended by US President Donald Trump and other senior U.S. officials, was carrying pistols and knives and is believed to have been acting alone.
Bowser stated at a press conference, "We have no reason to believe at this time that there is anyone else involved. At this stage, it appears to be a lone wolf."
She added: "There appears to be no kind of danger to the public at this time."
US Federal Prosecutor Janine Pirro stated that the suspect has been charged with firearm-related offenses and assault.
President Donald Trump earlier, early Sunday, expressed his belief that the suspect who stormed the White House Correspondents’ Dinner and opened fire was a "lone wolf."
Trump said: "In my opinion, he was a lone wolf," describing the man as "mentally unstable."
He added that he sees no reason to believe the attack is related to the war in Iran.
