Workers Returning from Work End in Tragedy in Egypt

Khaberni - Beheira governorate in Egypt witnessed a horrific collision between a minibus carrying agricultural workers and another transportation vehicle on the fast desert highway "Cairo - El Dabaa," resulting in the death of one person and injuring 14 others.

The accident occurred around kilometer 240 towards El Dabaa, within the Wadi Natrun center area in Beheira governorate, where the minibus carrying agricultural workers returning from their work collided with the truck, resulting in the death of one worker while the other 14 suffered injuries of varying severity.

Security and ambulance forces moved to the accident site immediately after receiving the report. The body was transferred to the morgue at Wadi Natrun Specialized Hospital and the injured to the hospital for necessary medical treatment. The public prosecution began an investigation into the accident to determine its causes and responsibilities.

The western desert road (Cairo - El Dabaa) is one of the most important logistical axes in Egypt, connecting the capital with the north-western coastal area and new cities, and it sees heavy daily traffic, particularly of minibuses and heavy transport that carry agricultural workers and construction materials.

Nevertheless, this road records frequent traffic accidents, often resulting from excessive speed, non-compliance with traffic lanes, driver fatigue, or poor condition of some vehicles.

Road accidents remain one of the most significant security and health challenges in Egypt, despite governmental efforts to develop roads, implement electronic cameras, and enhance rescue efficiency.

According to official statistics, Egypt has recorded thousands of deaths annually in recent years due to traffic accidents, with a noticeable decrease in some periods thanks to awareness campaigns and monitoring.
