Khaberni - The president of Italian club Como, Merwan Suarso, opened the door for the departure of his Spanish coach Cesc Fabregas to take over the technical management of English club Chelsea, confirming that the club will not stand in the way of the former star's ambitions "for the Blues".
A potential successor to Liam Rosinior
Fabregas (38 years old) is one of the top candidates to succeed coach Liam Rosinior, who was dismissed from his position last Wednesday after a short period of just three months, following a series of negative results that included five consecutive defeats in the Premier League.
Chelsea is currently led by interim coach Callum MacFarlin until the end of the current season, while the "Stamford Bridge" management plans to appoint a permanent coach during the upcoming summer transfer period.
Statements by President Como
In his talk with the newspaper "City AM", Suarso said: "If this move makes him happy, the decision is up to him. Naturally, we want to keep our staff with us for as long as possible, but ultimately we do not own Fabregas, and he is free to move to Chelsea if he wishes."
Fate of the investment share
The president of the Italian club clarified that the potential departure of Fabregas would not necessarily affect his share as one of the stakeholders in Como club. The Spanish star owns a minority share in the club alongside Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, while the primary ownership belongs to billionaires from Indonesia.
Suarso mentioned that there is a structure that allows Fabregas to remain a stakeholder in the club, "unless he moves to work at a competing Italian club", confirming that the matter is subject to the logic of "business management and common sense".
Chelsea's interest in Fabregas comes at a time when the London club is seeking to restore its technical stability and return to competing for titles, relying on the Spaniard's experience, who achieved great successes as a player in the team's ranks, before beginning his promising coaching career in the Italian league with Como.
It is worth noting that Fabregas previously played for the Blues between (2014–2019), and was crowned with the team with two Premier League titles and the European League.
