Khaberni - The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) has announced the creation of a special department under the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to operate during the 2026 World Cup, acting as the final appellate body to ensure the quick and independent resolution of legal disputes and appeals against FIFA decisions related to the tournament.
This department under the CAS will operate throughout the tournament period scheduled from June 11 to July 19, 2026, providing expedited arbitration procedures for cases eligible for appeal, with decisions issued by arbitrators selected from CAS's special football list.
This system aims to ensure the resolution of disputes with high efficiency and within just 48 hours.
According to the regulations, appeals can only be submitted to this department after exhausting all other internal legal channels, and provided that the decision being appealed is eligible for appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport under FIFA regulations.
