Khaberni - The annual report on traffic accidents for the year 2025, issued by the General Security Directorate, shows that males constitute the largest proportion of drivers involved in human injury accidents, with a rate of 89.2%, compared to a much lower percentage for females.
The percentage of male drivers involved in human injury accidents was 0.7% of the total licensed males, compared to 0.2% for females, according to the opinion.
Further analysis of the data by age group and gender revealed that the age group from 36 to 53 years among females was the only exception, where the percentage of females involved in accidents within this group was 43.7%, which is higher than their male counterparts in the same group.
The analysis results also showed that drivers of both genders within the age group 18–35 were the most involved in human injury accidents compared to their total number, with the rate being 1.2% for males and 0.3% for females.
As for the temporal distribution of accidents, the evening period from 18:00 to 23:59 recorded the highest percentage of accidents, at 37.8%. Collisions were concentrated in the afternoon period (12:00–17:59) at a rate of 35.7%, while hit-and-run accidents recorded the highest percentage in the evening period at 46.7%. As for rollover accidents, they peaked during the afternoon period at a rate of 33.3%.
On a weekly basis, the report showed variations in accident rates, with Thursday recording the highest overall percentage of accidents at 15.6%, while the lowest rate was on Friday at 13.1%.
This temporal and weekly distribution of accidents highlights the importance of intensifying traffic monitoring and awareness, especially during evening periods and weekends, to reduce accidents and enhance road safety.
The report concluded that the age group between 18 and 35 years recorded the highest rates of participation in human injury accidents among the licensed drivers, both in terms of the number of licensed drivers or those actually involved in accidents between a vehicle and another vehicle or a pedestrian, where their rate was about 1% of the total registered drivers and 53.3% of the total participants in human injury accidents.
