Khaberni - Bloody tribal clashes in South Darfur, western Sudan, led to the displacement of hundreds of citizens who are now homeless after their properties and savings were completely destroyed.
Local reports indicate that the area "Halla Yahia Dud", located west of "Umm Zaifa", is experiencing a humanitarian disaster after fire consumed most of the village, leaving behind debris and displaced people in the open.
The area of "Umm Zaifa" witnessed armed confrontations between the "Tarjam" and "Asanqour" tribes last Tuesday, which resulted in casualties and injuries on both sides.
The tragedy was not limited to fighting, but also extended to almost completely burning down the village and looting the residents' properties, forcing hundreds to sleep on the ground and take the sky as their cover amid a total absence of basic necessities such as food and clothing.
Lack of relief
Despite a visit by a delegation from what is called the "Founding Government" (formed by the Rapid Support Forces in July/July last) to assess the extent of the damage, the citizens confirmed that the visit did not go beyond inspection and promises, without any tangible relief aid arriving so far.
Local entities have urged humanitarian organizations and relevant authorities to urgently intervene to save the affected families in the Darfur region, which is under the control of the Rapid Support Forces.
The United Nations describes the conflict in Sudan as "the biggest humanitarian crisis in the world," as it has caused the displacement of about 13 million people, while half of the country's population faces severe difficulties in accessing food.
