America Kuwait releases journalist Ahmad Shahabuddin following Trumps intervention

Khaberni - The U.S. State Department announced that Kuwaiti authorities have released the American-Kuwaiti journalist Ahmad Shahabuddin, following President Donald Trump's intervention.
The U.S. State Department late Friday explained that Shahabuddin was released and allowed to leave Kuwait. The department did not provide further details due to privacy concerns.

The prominent journalist had spent more than 50 days in detention due to his handling of video clips related to the ongoing war in Iran.

Shahabuddin holds dual American and Kuwaiti nationality and has previously worked for major news channels such as CNN, PBS, and Al Jazeera, as well as for the New York Times.

According to reports, the journalist faced charges of publishing what the authorities considered "false news," after he traveled to Kuwait in early March to visit family members.

Shahabuddin had commented on the Iran war through his personal blog and also published a video recorded by CNN which shows the moment an American warplane crashed in Kuwait. It is noted that he has been previously nominated for an "Emmy" award and he consistently covers human rights issues.
