Khaberni - Minister of Local Administration, Engineer Walid Al-Masri, emphasized the importance of municipalities’ preparation for summer, and the necessity to start removing weeds from the central islands and the sides of roads, and to address all hotspots that arose during past weather lows to ensure they are not repeated in the future.
This came during two separate meetings held by the minister today, Saturday. The first included the heads of the municipal committees of Balqa Governorate and the head of the provincial council in the building of the Greater Salt Municipality, while the second meeting included the heads of the municipal committees of Zarqa Governorate and the head of the provincial council in the building of Zarqa Municipality, discussing the service and development reality in the two governorates.
Al-Masri emphasized during the meetings the necessity to work on increasing municipal revenues, rationalizing expenditures, and directing them towards improving the services provided to citizens, confirming at the same time the need to address the remarks spotted by the "mystery shopper" during their field visits to the municipalities and reviewing the followed procedures, ensuring the efficiency of performance and overcoming any administrative obstacles.
The minister also directed the municipalities to activate the electronic government procurement system "JONEPS", pointing out that this direction is intended to enhance principles of transparency, fairness, and integrity in the submission and referral of government tenders, in line with digital transformation plans and institutional work development in the local administration sector.
