Saudi and Emirati Importers Sign Contracts to Import Food from South Korea

Khaberni - South Korea announced the signing of memoranda of understanding with importers from Saudi Arabia and the UAE worth $27 million for the export of agricultural products and foodstuffs to the Gulf markets.
The South Korean Ministry of Agriculture announced that local companies signed memoranda of understanding worth a total of $27 million USD with foreign buyers to export foodstuffs and agricultural products, during the largest exhibition to promote Korean food exports, which was held in the country last week.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs held the event "Korean Food Buying Plus" in Seoul from Wednesday to Thursday last week, where it gathered 143 buyers from 45 countries around the world.

Among the participants were buyers from the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where everyone took advantage of this gathering to explore business opportunities with about 280 Korean exporting companies.

The ministry said that the anticipated deals made at the exhibition, which lasted two days and has been held annually since 2009, broke new record figures in terms of value.

The ministry added that the memoranda of understanding include deals to export Kimchi, a traditional Korean side dish usually made from cabbage, to the United States, as well as Halal-certified food products to the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region.
