Khaberni - Bloomberg agency, citing a knowledgeable source, reported that American company "Microsoft" has offered an early retirement program to 7% of its total employees, which is about 9,000 people.
According to the source, to participate in the program, the sum of the employee’s age and years of service at the company must be 70 years or more. Employees in leadership positions and those who receive commissions or sales bonuses are excluded from this program.
This move is part of a campaign aimed at reducing expenses, according to the agency. Microsoft had laid off 10,000 employees in January 2023.
The company attributes the periodic layoffs and budget redistribution to ongoing changes in the technology market, noting that the largest financial burdens are currently concentrated in providing the necessary electricity to data centers for the development of artificial intelligence technologies.
