Decline in Crime Rates in Jordan in 2025

The criminal statistical report issued by the Public Security Directorate showed a decline in the number of recorded crimes in Jordan during 2025 by 4.01%, with a total of 23,021 crimes compared to 23,982 crimes in 2024.

The report revealed a decrease in crimes against persons, noting a decline of 6.36% with 1,266 crimes in 2025, compared to 1,352 crimes in 2024, according to the kingdom.

It indicated a decrease in attempted murder crimes by 5.82% with 257 crimes compared to 292 crimes in 2024, and a decrease in willful murder by 21.15% with 41 crimes, against an increase in manslaughter by 58.82%.

Regarding crimes against property, the report showed a decline of 5.57% in 2025 with 15,370 crimes, compared to 16,277 crimes in 2024. Criminal theft decreased to 2,751 crimes by 3.61% within the same year, misdemeanor theft decreased to 8,080 crimes by 9.19%, attempted theft decreased to 378 crimes by 8.92%, and car theft decreased to 257 crimes by a decline rate of 31.65%, while fraud crimes increased by 4.55%.

The report highlighted a significant decrease in crimes breaching public trust by 51.79%, with currency forgery crimes decreasing by 62.33% with 113 crimes in 2025, compared to 300 crimes in 2024, and a decrease in criminal forgery by 16.67% with 75 crimes, compared to 90 crimes in the previous year.

Crimes posing a risk to public safety also declined by 5.76%, with 1,637 crimes recorded last year, compared to 1,737 crimes in 2024.

The report noted an increase in crimes against public administration by 10.82%, with office abuse crimes increasing by 216.67% with 19 crimes in 2025 compared to 6 crimes in 2024, along with an increase in bribery from 54 crimes in 2024 to 71 crimes in 2025 by an increase rate of 31.48%, and a rise in crimes of resistance and assault on employees to 2,752 crimes in 2025 by an increase of 10.82% compared to 2,505 crimes in 2024.

The report also noted a slight increase in crimes breaching morals and public decency by 3.05%, due to an increase in adultery crimes by 21.28% and abortion by 23.8%, and an increase in indecent assault from 885 crimes in 2024 to 918 crimes in 2025, with an increase rate of 3.79%, while kidnapping crimes decreased by 12.63%, recording 173 crimes compared with 198 crimes in the previous year.
