Khaberni - The Cairo Economic Court, today, Wednesday, obliged the artist Hala Sedki to pay a fine of 20,000 Egyptian Pounds, following her accusation of slander and defamation against the visual artist Shalimar Sharbatly, the wife of director Khaled Youssef.
The court also imposed on the artist to pay 10,000 Egyptian Pounds as a provisional civil compensation to the plaintiff, in addition to the legal expenses.
The public prosecution had referred the lawsuit filed by Shalimar Sharbatly against Hala Sedki, accused of slander, defamation, and libel, to the Economic Court.
The judgment came after reviewing the case and examining its documents and hearing the arguments of the parties, leading the court to issue its decision convicting the accused and applying the aforementioned punishment.
The details of the case go back to lawsuit number 5215 for the year 2025, which was filed by the plaintiff on August 30, claiming the transfer of financial amounts to Hala Sedki to participate in a restaurant and cafe project in Sheikh Zayed.
Sharbatly reported that she transferred a total amount of 2,483,480 Egyptian Pounds, asking the court to appoint an accounting expert to determine her share of the project's profits, based on two years of bank transfers.
