Khaberni - The Vice President of the United Arab Emirates, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has approved the Gold Line project for the Dubai Metro, the largest sustainable transport project in the history of the emirate, with an investment of 34 billion dirhams ($9.2 billion).
The Gold Line, which was announced for the first time in Dubai today on Wednesday, extends over 42 kilometers, includes 18 stations, and is the first fully underground metro route in the emirate. Subsequently, the Gold Line will be connected with the Red and Green lines of the Dubai Metro, and this connection is crowned by integration with the Etihad Train, linking Dubai city with the national transport system.
It is worth noting that the decision to approve the project today included directives to expedite its implementation and opening by September 9, 2032, benefiting 1.5 million people and supporting transport in 55 major real estate development projects currently under construction, and increasing the metro network’s reach inside the emirate by 35 percent.
