Khaberni - The Income and Sales Tax Department has urged taxpayers to expedite the submission of income tax declarations for the fiscal year 2025 before April 30, the current month, considering it the final legal deadline for submissions without incurring any penalties, emphasizing the need to initiate the payment of the declared tax before the end of the current month.
The department stressed the necessity of filling out the declarations with precise and accurate financial data that reflect the actual income of the taxpayers for the year 2025, emphasizing the importance of utilizing the remaining time in April to submit the declarations to avoid legal penalties.
The department explained that there are fixed penalties for not submitting the declaration within the legal deadline, in addition to a penalty for late payment at a rate of (0.4%) weekly from the value of the due tax or any part thereof.
The department clarified that employees and workers whose annual income exceeds 9 thousand dinars for singles (non-providers), or 18 thousand dinars for providers, are obligated to submit their tax declarations, confirming that monthly deductions from salaries and wages do not exempt this obligation if the income exceeds the exemption limits.
It also called on retirees whose monthly retirement salaries exceed 2,500 dinars to submit their tax declarations for the year 2025.
The department further explained that the issuance of refunds will be carried out after the legal period for submitting declarations ends, and according to the priority in which they were submitted. Therefore, it urges taxpayers on the importance of not delaying the submission of declarations to the last days to avoid any possible delay, confirming that services for submitting declarations and paying taxes are available electronically with ease.
