Despite his professional career being filled with achievements, personal awards, and collective titles whether with the clubs he has played for or his national team, the Portuguese star and current Al Nassr player Cristiano Ronaldo never hid his desire to achieve something special in the world of football that he still dreams of.
In March 2022, while playing for Manchester United, Ronaldo expressed his wish to stay on the pitch for at least another 4 or 5 years, which is close to what he is achieving now as he is currently tied to a contract with Al Nassr until June 2027.
Ronaldo and His Son Together at Al Nassr
It appears Ronaldo had been planning to fulfill his dream of playing alongside his eldest son, Cristiano Jr., on the field and had previously stated: "My son told me to delay my retirement for several more years, I want to play alongside you."
This dream is close to becoming a reality, as reported by Portuguese newspaper 'A Bola', Al Nassr is considering the possibility of promoting Cristiano Jr. to the first team for the next sports season 2026-2027.
Al Nassr's Surprise for Ronaldo's Son
The administration of "Al-Alami" is in the process of deciding which will be made by the end of this season, after evaluating the player, who will be turning sixteen in June next year, and how beneficial he will be for Al Nassr on a technical level.
If the decision to promote Cristiano Jr. to the first team is made, he might play alongside his father in some matches, which will then attract significant media attention locally, regionally, and globally.
Cristiano Jr is currently playing in Al Nassr Academy, and has previously trained in the academies of Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Juventus, the teams his father played for during his football career, as well as representing the Portugal national team in the youth categories.
Previously, "the Don" posted a photo on his official Instagram account of him training with his son with the caption "the present and the future."
Ronaldo believes his firstborn might be a future star but has stated he will give him the freedom to choose and "will not pressure him."
Following in the Footsteps of Larsson and Rivaldo
If they appear together at Al Nassr, Ronaldo and his son Cristiano Jr. would not be the first to do so in football history, but they would follow several other stars who played for the same club, most notably the Swedes Henrik Larsson and his son Jordan with Högaborgs BK, and Rivaldo and his son Rivaldinho with Mogi Mirim in Brazil.
Ronaldo Seeking His First Title
In his fourth season with Al Nassr, Ronaldo the father is currently seeking to lead his team to various titles, especially as Al Nassr is nearing a Saudi League title and is also strongly competing in the AFC Champions League.
This season, Ronaldo has contributed 30 goals (26 scored and 4 assisted) in 30 matches across all competitions, according to data from the renowned website "Transfermarkt".
Al Nassr tops the standings of the Roshn League with 76 points, 8 points ahead of their closest competitor Al Hilal with five rounds to go, although Ronaldo's team has played one more match.
In the continental tournament, Al Nassr has reached the semi-finals where they will meet Al Ahli of Qatar tonight at seven o'clock Mecca and Doha time.
The winner of this match will face Gamba Osaka from Japan, which has reached the final from the East Asian zone, on May 17th next year.
