Shooting at 3 Ships in the Strait of Hormuz

Khaberni - Maritime security sources and the British Maritime Trade Authority said on Wednesday that at least three container ships were subjected to gunfire in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran imposed restrictions on ships passing through the strait in response to American and Israeli bombings and the American blockade on Iranian ports.

A Liberian-flagged container ship was damaged in the command room after being hit by gunfire and rocket shells northeast of Oman.

The authority mentioned that the ship's captain reported the approach of an Iranian Revolutionary Guard warship, and the ship was subsequently fired upon, but there were no reports of fires breaking out or environmental damage, and all crew members are safe.

Maritime security sources reported the presence of three individuals on the warship.

The captain of the container ship operated by a Greek company reported no radio communication prior to the incident, noting that the ship was initially notified that it had received permission to cross the strait.

The authority later stated that a second container ship flying the Panama flag was fired upon about eight nautical miles off the coast of Iran, without sustaining any damage, and that its crew were safe.

Maritime security sources reported that a third container ship flying the Liberian flag was fired upon at a similar distance off the coast of Iran as it was exiting the strait. The ship suffered no damage and stopped in the waters. The sources added that its crew was unharmed.

Prior to the outbreak of the war on February 28th, this strait had seen traffic amounting to about 20 percent of the global supplies of oil and liquefied natural gas.
