Khaberni - The President of the Senate, Faisal Al-Fayez, warned about the growing hate speech and incitement on social media platforms, describing it as "detestable speech" that seeks to provoke regional, provincial, and racial sentiments, aiming to tamper with the Jordanian social fabric and the state's constants.
At the beginning of the Senate session on Wednesday, Al-Fayez said that these practices are backed by insidious and conspiring groups attempting to undermine the unity of Jordanians and their national and constitutional institutions, emphasizing that the current stage, considering the conflicts in the region, requires the highest levels of cohesion and national unity.
The Senate decisively rejects these practices, highlighting the necessity of firmly confronting those who promote this discourse and pursuing them legally.
He added that Jordanians, with all their backgrounds and components, have always formed a cohesive fabric, deriving strength from their unity and from the wise Hashemite leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, who stands against all suspicious plans targeting Jordan.
He emphasized that the Senate, from its constitutional responsibilities, underscores the importance of enhancing the cohesion of the social fabric as a fundamental pillar for the stability and progress of the state, warning that regional and sectarian discourse poses a direct threat to national security, serving foreign agendas that do not wish well for Jordan.
Al-Fayez pointed out that exploiting freedoms to spread hate and incitement does not fall under freedom of opinion and expression, but constitutes crimes punishable by law, calling for no leniency in prosecuting those involved to prevent chaos and undermine trust in institutions.
The President of the Senate confirmed that Jordan, with its Hashemite leadership and cohesive people, will remain impervious to attempts at discord and that the council stands behind His Majesty the King in protecting the nation's security and stability, clarifying that Jordan's dignity and national unity are above all else and that the Jordanians' motto will remain: "We are all Jordanians for Jordan, and Palestinians for Palestine".
