In a Noteworthy Incident GPT Chat Faces Court in Florida Shooting Case

Khaberni - The Florida Attorney General, yesterday, opened a criminal investigation to find out whether artificial intelligence played a role in a mass shooting at one of the American state universities.

The decision to open the investigation came after prosecutors reviewed conversations between the automated chat program "Chat GPT" and the gunman suspected of opening fire at Florida State University last year, according to State Attorney General James Outhmeyer.

Outhmeyer commented, "If Chat GPT were a person, it would be facing murder charges."

Legally, any person who aids or advises someone in committing a crime is classified as an "accomplice and instigator" who bears the same responsibility as the perpetrator, according to the Attorney General.

In the details of the incident, the suspect asked the program for advice on the type of weapon and ammunition that should be used, as well as the place and time where a large number of people would be on campus, according to Outhmeyer.

Denial of "Chat GPT" Responsibility
In turn, a spokesperson for "Open AI," the developer of "Chat GPT," told the French Press Agency that "the mass shooting that occurred last year at Florida State University was a tragedy, but Chat GPT is not responsible for this horrendous crime."

He added that the program provided "realistic answers to questions with information that can be widely found through open sources on the Internet and did not encourage or promote any illegal or harmful activity."

He also mentioned that the company identified the account linked to the suspected shooter and provided it to the police after learning about the shooting.

At the beginning of April, Outhmeyer also stated that the application, which has more than 900 million active weekly users, has been linked to criminal behavior, including child sexual assault, encouragement of suicide, and self-harm.

While Outhmeyer acknowledged that artificial intelligence represents a "huge leap" in technology, he said it should complement, support, and advance humanity, not lead to "an existential crisis or our ultimate demise."
