Khaberni - The Board of Directors of the Land Transport Regulatory Authority, chaired by the Minister of Transport Nidal Al-Qatamin, decided to issue three operational calls for operating 35 new lines through a fleet consisting of 108 transportation means, distributed across the provinces of Zarqa, Mafraq, and Jerash. This move aims to expand the scope of public transportation services and enhance their efficiency and quality.
According to the operational plan, 10 lines will be operated in the province of Jerash using 27 small and medium transportation means, 7 lines in the province of Zarqa through 50 small passenger vehicles, in addition to 18 lines in the province of Mafraq through 31 transportation means of small and medium categories, reflecting operational flexibility that considers the nature of demand and the specific characteristics of each province.
The decision is based on field studies that focused on identifying the most demanded lines and connecting population clusters with key centers such as hospitals, schools, and points of departure and arrival, ensuring equitable distribution and comprehensive service and reducing service gaps between regions.
The authority confirmed that this expansion comes in direct response to the increasing demand for organized public transport services, contributing to providing a regular and reliable service that enhances reliance on public transportation as a safe and effective option.
It is expected that this expansion will positively reflect on the economic and social activity, by facilitating citizens' movement towards workplaces and educational sites, improving access to basic services, thereby enhancing the quality of life and promoting stability in the targeted provinces.
