Amr Diabs Objection Rejected and His Fine Upheld in Slapping Incident

Khaberni - The Egyptian Court of Cassation rejected the appeal submitted by the artist Amr Diab, upholding his fine of 200 EGP in the incident of slapping a young man named Saad Osama at a famous hotel in the Fifth Settlement.

The Cairo Misdemeanor Appeals Court previously rejected the "Two Moons" owner's appeal of his fine in the famous slapping incident during a wedding ceremony, upholding the first-instance verdict.

On December 7, the Fifth Settlement Misdemeanor Court fined “El Hadaba” 200 EGP and ordered him to pay 10,000 EGP as temporary civil compensation to the young man. The court also acquitted Saad Osama of the charges against him.

Amr Diab stated in the Public Prosecution investigations that he "was surprised when someone suddenly grabbed and pinched him during a wedding performance, causing him to lose focus and become annoyed, hence he retaliated by slapping the person to push him away."

The Egyptian star added in the investigations: "I immediately left the wedding party and informed my lawyer to file a report against the person for causing me moral and physical harm, and for defaming me on social media."

The roots of the case date back to 2024, when the incident occurred during one of Amr Diab’s musical performances at a luxurious hotel in New Cairo. In a moment of excitement, the 28-year-old Egyptian youth, Saad Osama, approached Diab to take a commemorative photo amidst a crowd of fans.

A circulating video clip showed Diab suddenly slapping the young man on the face, accompanied by harsh scolding in front of the attendees, shocking the audience and spreading the video captured by a witness on social media.

Osama confirmed in the investigation report that the slap was "painful and humiliating," demanding compensation of up to 5 million EGP, considering the act a criminal assault on his dignity.
