Khaberni - The US Department of War announced on Tuesday that it intercepted and inspected a sanctioned vessel linked to Iran, in an undisclosed area, "without any incidents occurring."
The department stated through its account on the X platform, "The US forces conducted an overnight maritime interception and inspection operation aboard the sanctioned oil tanker Tiffany, which is flagless, without any incidents, within the jurisdiction of the" US Command for the Indian and Pacific Ocean region.
The department emphasized the United States' commitment to "dismantling illegitimate networks and intercepting sanctioned ships providing material support to Iran, wherever they operate," clarifying that international waters "are not a safe haven for sanctioned ships."
According to the intelligence company "Vanguard Tech," "Tiffany" is an oil tanker flying the Botswana flag, intercepted "in the Indian Ocean."
The last signal for it was spotted on Tuesday between Sri Lanka and the Malacca Strait, according to the "Marine Traffic" maritime navigation tracking site.
Shipping data from the company "Kepler," which specializes in navigation monitoring, indicates that the ship loaded about two million barrels of crude oil at Khark Island on April 5, and crossed the Strait of Hormuz on April 9.
A signal from its automatic identification system indicated that it was headed towards Singapore.
In recent years, the oil tanker "Tiffany" has carried out several oil shipment transfers between ships off the coasts of Singapore and Malaysia, an area considered a hub for trade with China via Iran's secret fleet of sanctioned oil tankers.
The ship was making frequent trips between this region and Iran or China.
US President Donald Trump announced his intention that he will not lift the blockade imposed on Iranian ports unless an "agreement" is reached with them, while doubts remained on Tuesday about the possibility of a second round of negotiations between the two countries in Islamabad.
"Lloyd's List Intelligence," specialized in maritime data, indicated on Monday that "at least 26 ships from the Iranian shadow fleet have bypassed the American blockade" since its imposition last week.
