Khaberni - Public Works and Housing Minister Maher Abu Al-Samen and the head of Jordan Engineers Association Abdullah Asim Gousha signed two strategic agreements to enhance the technical and professional cooperation between the ministry and the association.
The first agreement included launching an annual program to train newly graduated engineers aimed at developing their practical skills in construction projects managed by the ministry and preparing them for the job market. The program targets engineers who graduated not more than three years ago and have not worked or trained for more than three months. According to the agreement, the trainee engineer receives a monthly stipend of two hundred dinars, equally split with one hundred dinars each from both parties. The training period can last up to six months, during which the ministry commits to providing an appropriate training environment and a qualified supervisor to guide the trainee and provide the necessary expertise.
Additionally, both parties signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at enhancing technical and institutional cooperation regarding project blueprint auditing and approval and enhancing the quality of engineering works. The memorandum includes collaboration in the field of specialized engineering consultations, technical information exchange, and improving the efficiency of personnel through specialized training programs in project management, contracts, and digital transformation. The parties agreed to complete electronic linking to facilitate access to project data and technical monitoring to ensure the highest safety and quality standards in the public road network and national projects.
During the meeting, Minister Abu Al-Samen welcomed the cooperation with the association, emphasizing the importance of this partnership in realizing the vision of economic modernization and infrastructure development in the kingdom.
He said the program works to empower new engineers to possess the necessary practical skills and experiences to compete in the job market, through a systematic training plan implemented within the institutional frameworks at the ministry's headquarters and its directorates spread across all provinces, providing a specialized professional guidance system supervised by a select group of the ministry's staff to monitor the trainees' performance and provide the necessary technical advice throughout the program.
He mentioned that about 550 engineers benefited from the program last year, with a similar number expected this year, in addition to providing employment opportunities through the obligatory employment program overseen by the National Construction Council.
On his part, Captain Gousha said that the agreements signed with the ministry are considered a path and a fundamental turning point in the topic of institutional cooperation between the association and the ministry, indicating that the ministry has always been a major supporter of the engineering and construction sectors.
He pointed out that many points discussed between the association and the ministry, such as electronic linking, various facilitations, and the accreditation of engineers in the ministry as heads of specialty according to the standards followed in the association, represent a qualitative leap in joint cooperation and are in the public interest.
Engineer Gousha thanked Minister Abu Al-Samen for involving the Engineers Association in all the committees formed by the Ministry of Public Works and the National Construction Council, the latest of which was forming a technical committee for smart buildings and keeping up with global developments in this field.
Attending the signing of the agreement were the Deputy Captain of Engineers Engineer Ahmed Al-Falahat, members of the association's council, Engineer Malik Al-Alwan, Engineer Samir Al-Khatib, Engineer Haitham Shakrah, Engineer Issa Hamdan, Engineer Saleh Al-Ghuwairi, Assistant Secretary General for Training and Qualification and Scientific Affairs Engineer Samar Kilani and the Assistant Secretary-General for Engineering Affairs and Information Technology Engineer Musab Jaber, and directors and department heads.
