Basketball Federation Postpones League Final and Opens Investigation into AlFaisaly and AlIttihad Match Incident

Khaberni - The Basketball Federation announced the postponement of the remainder of the final series of the basketball league following the events that occurred in the second game of the final series between Al Faisaly club and the Oman Union, with the continuation of the second game later from the moment it was stopped and with the same refereeing team.

The federation stated that it will begin reviewing referees' reports, observers' accounts, and video recordings to refer the case to the Disciplinary and Conduct Committee for taking stringent measures.

It indicated that the incident will be subject to a comprehensive security and organizational assessment to enhance control measures inside sporting arenas during crucial stages.

The federation called on clubs, fans, and the media to act responsibly and not to inflame the situation while waiting for official decisions.

The Jordan Basketball Federation follows, with great regret and dismay, the unfortunate events that accompanied the second game of the CFI Men's Premier League final series between Al Faisaly Club and Oman Union, which do not conform to the values of the game and do not reflect the sportsmanship that should prevail in our arenas.

The federation announces that, through its competent committees, it has begun a comprehensive review of all official reports related to the game, including referees' and observers' reports and available recordings, in preparation for their referral to the Disciplinary and Conduct Committee, the competent authority, to take appropriate disciplinary actions and decisions in accordance with the approved regulations and instructions, ensuring fairness and impartiality.

The federation firmly rejects all forms of violence and misconduct witnessed during the game, emphasizing that the safety of players, technical staff, referees, and fans is an absolute priority, and any transgressions will be dealt with decisively through the competent committees and according to established legal frameworks.

Therefore, the Competitions Committee has decided to continue the second match from the moment it was stopped, with the same refereeing team, after the match was paused by the match observer in order to safeguard all parties involved. The completion of the final series has been postponed until further notice, pending rescheduling and completion of necessary procedures.

The federation confirms that this incident will undergo a comprehensive evaluation, disciplinary, organizational, and security-wise, which will help enhance control measures inside the venues and maintain fair competitive conditions, especially in the decisive stages of the championships. All decisions will be announced immediately upon the completion of official procedures, with full transparency and responsibility.

The federation calls on the administrations of both clubs, players, technical staff, fans, and the media to exercise the highest levels of responsibility and refrain from any statements or actions that might fan the flames or affect the progress of official procedures.
