Khaberni - The Middle East University hosted the General Manager of the Jordanian Broadcasting and Television Corporation, Ibrahim Al-Buwarid, in a dialogue session attended by the Dean of the College of Media, Dr. Ramez Abu Hoseira, faculty and administrative members, and a group of students. The session discussed updates in the media scene and its challenges amid accelerating crises.
Al-Buwarid said in his speech during the session moderated by media personality, Dr. Mohammed Abu Halqa, that the phenomenon of the "citizen journalist" through social media platforms poses profound challenges related to the mechanisms of information dissemination, sometimes in the absence of verification, which calls for promoting a culture of individual responsibility in publishing, and not being dragged behind rumors or unreliable news.
He noted that Jordan possesses an advanced model in crisis management, represented in the efficiency of its institutions and their ability to handle updates with high professionalism, adding that commitment to the official narrative issued by the competent authorities forms a fundamental pillar in countering media misinformation, and protecting the public space from informational chaos.
