Head of Engineers Special Committee to Audit National Water Carrier Project Plans

Khaberni - Eng. Abdullah Ghosheh, the Head of Engineers, said the Ministry of Water has provided the union with relevant plans and technical documents for the purpose of reviewing and auditing them in accordance with the highest professional standards, which contributes to enhancing the accuracy of procedures related to engineering approvals, and improving their outputs within the approved regulatory frameworks.
He added in a press statement that the union has formed a specialized committee consisting of a group of experts, academics, and specialists, aiming to provide technical support for the National Water Carrier project by auditing and reviewing the engineering plans and technical documents of the project, considering it one of the most prominent strategic projects in the kingdom.
He emphasized that the role of the committee is focused on reviewing and auditing the plans and detailed schedules of the project, in coordination with the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, to ensure its compliance with accepted engineering codes and standards, and to enhance the quality of the project's technical outputs.
Ghosheh mentioned that the committee will work on evaluating the proposed uses of facilities and buildings associated with the project from an engineering technical perspective, to achieve efficiency in design and execution, and to help minimize potential errors, which positively reflects on reducing time and cost without affecting the quality of the project's infrastructure.
He considered that His Majesty King Abdullah II's call for the government to adhere to the project’s timeline and clarify its phases and goals to the citizens, demonstrates the royal interest in this project, which is among the most important strategic Jordanian projects.
He pointed out that this project, which is considered one of the main economic modernization projects, represents a qualitative leap in national infrastructure and enhances the partnership between the state, private sector, and the international community. It also emphasizes the importance of the concerned parties adhering to precise technical and engineering standards, and ensuring the readiness of supporting networks and systems, in order to achieve the project’s goals of providing sustainable and safe water sources, and boosting citizens' confidence in the state's ability to manage its vital resources efficiently and transparently.
Ghosheh stressed the importance of involving professional institutions in ensuring the quality of implementation, especially since cooperation between the union and the Ministry of Water and Irrigation enhances confidence in the project's outputs and shows that Jordan seeks to build a robust water infrastructure to meet future challenges.
The union confirmed that this step comes within the scope of its professional and technical role, particularly in the field of auditing designs and controlling the quality of engineering work, which enhances integration with governmental bodies and serves the public interest in implementing major national projects with high efficiency.
The National Water Carrier project is considered one of the vital projects targeting to enhance water security in the kingdom, by finding sustainable solutions to water scarcity challenges, and supporting economic and social development pathways in Jordan.
The "National Carrier" combines desalinating 300 million cubic meters of seawater annually and pumping it through advanced systems capable of lifting water to heights of 1,100 meters above sea level, via a pipeline network stretching about 450 kilometers, with extensive reliance on renewable energy and the latest technological innovations.
