Khaberni - The media college at Petra University took first place in the category of short narrative films at the tenth Al Shorouk Festival for Media Students' Creatives in Cairo. The university competed with the participation of forty Arab universities and academies, presenting two hundred thirty-eight media works in various festival categories.
The film "Wamid" won the first prize, a narrative work produced by students Karim Al-Kurdi, Taimur Balqar, and Lin Hijazi, under the supervision of the instructor Wesen Haddad. The film is inspired by the true story of the visually impaired journalist, Rashed Rabbabah, illustrating his determination to achieve his dream of working as a news anchor, with the quality of presentation and humanitarian treatment.
Supervisor Wesen Haddad emphasized that this achievement reflects the students' capacity to produce high-quality works that compete at an Arab level. Haddad highlighted Petra University's focus on developing the practical skills of students and connecting them to real-world issues, enhancing the role of media in society, and establishing academic and practical excellence standards among the college students.
This victory adds to the record of successes achieved by the media college in previous regional and international participations. The college continues its approach in preparing media professionals capable of competing, thus reinforcing the university's position as a leading educational institution in enriching the media landscape with high-quality, distinctive talents in various aspects of journalistic and television work.
