Jordan AlAqsa raids a blatant breach of international law and unacceptable provocation

Khaberni  - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs condemned the continued incursions by extremist settlers into Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram Al-Qudsi Al-Sharif, including the latest one on Tuesday, and the provocative practices carried out by extremists such as raising Israeli flags on the mosque grounds, in addition to the arbitrary practices of the Israeli police; considering this a blatant breach of international law and the existing historical and legal status in Jerusalem and its holy places.

The spokesperson for the ministry, Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali, expressed the kingdom’s absolute rejection and strong condemnation of the continued incursions by extremist settlers into Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram Al-Qudsi Al-Sharif, and the accompanying provocative behaviors; considering it a rejected incendiary act that aims to impose new realities in Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram Al-Qudsi Al-Sharif by attempting to divide it temporally and spatially, emphasizing that Israel has no sovereignty over occupied Jerusalem.

Al-Majali warned of the dangers and consequences of the continuation of these violations and provocations, calling on the international community to take a firm stance obliging Israel, as the occupying power, to stop all its irresponsible practices and continuous violations against the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, and to halt unilateral measures in the occupied West Bank.

Al-Majali reiterated that Al-Aqsa Mosque, with its total area of 144 dunams, is solely a place of worship for Muslims, and that the Jerusalem Awqaf and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Administration, under the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Holy Places, is the legal authority exclusively responsible for managing the affairs of Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram Al-Qudsi Al-Sharif and organizing entry to it.
