Khaberni - The Coordination Framework in Iraq announced the nomination of Basim Al-Badri for the position of Prime Minister.
Al-Badri has been heading the Accountability and Justice Commission since 2013, a commission established by the civilian administrator in Iraq, Paul Bremer, under the name "De-Ba'athification Commission". It has disqualified a large number of politicians, military and security leaders on the grounds of their affiliation with the Ba'ath Party or their work with the regime of the former President Saddam Hussein before 2003.
It is worth mentioning that on January 27 last year, US President Donald Trump threatened to stop US support to Baghdad if Nouri al-Maliki returns to the government. Additionally, there were objections from forces within the Coordination Framework, including the Wisdom Stream led by Ammar al-Hakim, and the "Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq" movement, led by Qais al-Khazali.
