Huawei unveils smart glasses powered by a local chip and a titanium hinge

Khaberni - Huawei announced the launch of its new AI-enhanced smart glasses during the Pura series event, in a step that reflects the escalating competition in the wearable devices market.

The glasses, named Huawei AI Glasses, were unveiled by He Gang, the company's CEO of smart devices, who appeared wearing the device during the presentation.

Lightweight design and multiple options
The glasses are available in three colors: titanium silver, shiny silver, and modern black, with two frame options (round and square) to suit different user styles, according to a report published by "gizmochina" and reviewed by "Al Arabiya Business".

The device's prices start at about $367, while the top version's price reaches about $425, with pre-orders starting on April 20, before officially hitting the market on the 25th of the same month.

Huawei focuses on comfort, with the glasses weighing about 35.5 grams and arms thickness not exceeding 6.25 mm, making them feel closer to traditional glasses during use.

Precision engineering for better comfort
The company says the design of the glasses is based on analyzing over 300,000 head shapes of users in Asia, resulting in the development of a balance structure known as the "golden triangle", aimed at improving stability and comfort.

The glasses are also equipped with a hinge made from a titanium alloy developed internally, and Huawei confirms that it enhances stability by up to 21% compared to competing products, along with precise mechanical improvements in frame movement.

Built-in artificial intelligence chip
The glasses rely on an artificial intelligence chip developed by Huawei, allowing near-instant response to voice commands, with support for voice activation feature and a custom shortcut for quick access to AI functions.

The most notable features include the "See the World" service through the smart assistant Xiaoyi, in addition to the "Look and Pay" feature in collaboration with the "Ali Pay" service, which allows payment by simply looking.

Imaging and live streaming capabilities
In the media aspect, the glasses include a 1/2.8 inch sensor, with support for technologies such as multi-frame image integration (AI RAW), and composition correction assisted by artificial intelligence, in addition to the ability for first-person perspective live streaming.

The company also launched a dedicated app named Huawei Glasses App, which offers features such as quick pairing, smart audio streaming, and automatic content import, along with integration with other Huawei devices.

Battery lasts for a full day of use
The glasses provide up to 12 hours of general use, including about 8 hours of voice calls and 9 hours of continuous music playback.

This step comes at a time when the smart glasses market is experiencing rapid growth, driven by the integration of artificial intelligence technologies, positioning Huawei in direct competition with major companies seeking to offer new experiences combining augmented reality and smart services.
