AlQatamin discusses with the Iraqi Business Council revitalizing trade and enhancing the importance of Aqaba for transit

Khaberni - Minister of Transport Dr. Nidal Al-Qatamin discussed during his meeting today, Monday, with the Vice President of the Iraqi Business Council, Dr. Saad Al-Naji, the General Manager of the Council, Abeer Al-Naieb, and Advisor Wijdan Al-Momani, mechanisms to revitalize commercial movement between Jordan and Iraq, and to enhance cooperation in the transport and logistics sector.
The discussions focused on facilitating transportation between the two countries, and refocusing on the role of the Port of Aqaba as a major hub for transit to Iraq, in addition to informing Minister Al-Qatamin about organizing a joint Jordanian-Iraqi international exhibition and conference to enhance economic partnerships and open new avenues for cooperation between the public and private sectors.
Al-Qatamin affirmed the ministry’s commitment to providing facilities and cooperating with the Iraqi Business Council, in ways that serve the interests of Jordan and Iraq, and contribute to facilitating transportation and enhancing trade exchange between the two countries.
He emphasized the logistical importance of the Port of Aqaba and enhancing its reliability as a main corridor, pointing out that the current regional conditions highlighted the importance of diversifying alternatives for supply chains, and affirming that Jordan forms a strategic depth for the brotherly Iraq, and that any initiative benefiting both countries is welcomed and supported.
For his part, Al-Naji emphasized the importance of the Port of Aqaba as a main gateway for transit to Iraq, stressing the need to enhance its reliability, in light of the regional changes that have required the reshaping of supply chains.
He referred to the significance of the joint Jordanian-Iraqi exhibition and conference, in supporting economic cooperation and expanding partnership areas.
In her turn, Al-Naieb emphasized the importance of continuous coordination between the two sides, and the necessity of enhancing trade cooperation and facilitating procedures, affirming that the Port of Aqaba represents a fundamental pillar in supporting trade between the two countries.
She confirmed the importance of the upcoming conference in achieving practical results and building an effective economic relationship network, thereby enhancing Jordan's role and its logistical position in the region.
