AlTayeb The use of digital identity in elections depends on a decision from the Independent Electoral Commission

Khaberni - The Director General of the Civil Status and Passports Department, Gaith Al-Tayeb, said on Monday that the adoption of using the digital identity in the electoral process is contingent on a decision from the Independent Electoral Commission, noting that the department has worked to provide the legal framework for this identity within the digital transformation path.

Al-Tayeb explained during his speech on "Al-Mamlaka" that the digital identity has become legally recognized, but its use in elections is linked to decisions and procedures of the Independent Electoral Commission, especially as the application of "Sanad" is not yet mandatory for all citizens.

He pointed out that the number of users who have activated the application is about 2.5 million citizens, which necessitates considering these numbers when discussing the possibility of adopting the digital identity in the electoral process.
