Israeli Minister Defiantly We Enforce Annexation on the Ground in the West Bank

Khaberni - Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen announced today, Monday, that Benjamin Netanyahu's government is enforcing the annexation on the ground in the occupied West Bank, in a clear challenge to the international position opposing annexation.

Cohen, a member of the security cabinet "Kabinet" on the "X" company's platform, stated that what is happening is "imposing sovereignty on the ground".

The term "sovereignty" is used by the Israeli government to mean "annexation," which President Donald Trump publicly stated he opposes implementing in the West Bank.

Cohen, a leader in Netanyahu's "Likud" party, added: I have reached an agreement with Samaria Regional Council Chairman Yossi Dagan regarding connecting the new settlements to electricity and water networks, including Homesh, Sanur, Rehavam, and Ebal."

The Palestinian Authority has been calling internationally for decades to stop Israeli settlement in the occupied territories, to no avail.

About 750,000 Israeli settlers live in hundreds of settlements in the occupied West Bank, including 250,000 in East Jerusalem, and commit daily assaults to forcibly displace Palestinians.

Since assuming office in December 2022, the Netanyahu government has escalated its settlement activity in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, which the United Nations considers occupied Palestinian territory.

Since the outbreak of the genocide war in Gaza on October 8, 2023, the Israeli army and settlers have intensified their assaults in the West Bank, resulting in at least 1,150 Palestinian deaths and approximately 11,750 injuries, and about 22,000 arrests.

The assaults also include sabotage and demolition of facilities and homes, displacement of Palestinians, and expanded settlement activity, while Palestinians warn that Israel is paving the way to formally annex the West Bank, which would mean an end to the possibility of establishing a Palestinian state as stipulated by United Nations resolutions.

In 1948, Israel was established on lands occupied by armed Zionist gangs who committed massacres and displaced at least 750,000 Palestinians, then Tel Aviv occupied the rest of the Palestinian territories, refusing to withdraw and rejecting the establishment of a Palestinian state.
