AlQatamin calls for studying rail linkage projects between Jordan and Iraq

Khaberni  - Transport Minister Nidal Al-Qatamin received the Iraqi ambassador to the Kingdom Omar Al-Barzanji in his office on Monday. They discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation in the transport sector between the two countries, serving their common economic and commercial interests.

During the meeting, Al-Qatamin emphasized the depth of the fraternal relations linking Jordan and Iraq, noting that these are deep-rooted, historical relationships based on cooperation and integration in various fields, particularly in the transport sector which is a fundamental pillar to support trade exchange between both countries.

The Minister stressed the importance of developing frameworks for joint cooperation, including studying rail linkage projects between Jordan and Iraq because of their central role in enhancing the efficiency of supply chains and facilitating the movement of goods, alongside working on removing obstacles to truck movement and streamlining related procedures.

On his part, Ambassador Al-Barzanji affirmed the robustness of the bilateral relations between the two countries, pointing out the alignment of visions on enhancing mutual interests and expanding cooperation areas, especially in the transport and trade sectors.

He expressed Iraq's ongoing readiness to cooperate with the Jordanian side to facilitate transport and trade exchange, including working on easing visa procedures and simplifying the movement of individuals and goods, which contributes to supporting economic activity between the two countries.

Both parties agreed on the importance of continuing coordination and consultation between the relevant entities in both countries, which would lead to the implementation of joint projects that enhance economic integration and support sustainable development paths.
