Aoun I chose to negotiate with Israel to stop the war and only we will negotiate

Khaberni - Lebanese President Jozaf Aoun confirmed on Monday that Lebanon will handle the bilateral negotiations with Israel independently, through a delegation headed by its ambassador Simon Karem, emphasizing that "no one will participate with Lebanon in this task or take its place".

Aoun explained, during his meeting with the "Sovereignty Front" delegation, that the choice to negotiate aims to stop the hostilities and end the Israeli occupation of southern areas, and to deploy the Lebanese army up to the internationally recognized southern borders.

He indicated that US President Donald Trump has shown understanding and responsiveness to Lebanon's demands during a call with him, and intervened with Israel to cease fire, and to prepare to launch a negotiation process that ends the "abnormal situation" and restores the full authority and sovereignty of the Lebanese state, primarily over the south.

Aoun added that communication will continue to maintain the ceasefire and start the negotiations, which should be accompanied by the broadest national support to enable the negotiating team to achieve its goals.

Aoun stressed that the upcoming negotiations are separate from any other negotiation tracks, confirming that Lebanon faces two options: either continue the war with its humanitarian, social, economic, and sovereign repercussions, or negotiate to put an end to it and achieve sustainable stability, adding: "I have chosen to negotiate and I am hopeful that we can save Lebanon".
