From Reality to Screen The Story of Saving an American Pilot from Iran Turns into a Movie

Khaberni - Warner Bros. won the rights to turn a New York Times report into a feature-length film, after fierce competition with Netflix and Anonymous Content.

The story, written by Harrison Query, details a thrilling American military rescue operation for a pilot whose F-15E Strike Eagle jet crashed inside Iranian territory. He managed to hide for many hours despite injuries, on a mountain slope reaching 7,000 feet, with assistance from the CIA.

Matt Reeves, through his company 6th & Idaho, undertook the production in collaboration with Warner Bros., marking this project as a new addition to the company's list crowded with successes, according to "deadline".

The name of the writer Harrison Query stands out as one of the most sought-after writers in Hollywood currently, as he prepares to launch a mini-series titled "Unspeakable" on Paramount Plus platform, which deals with the famous case of "JonBenét Ramsey," starring Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen.

Query is also working on producing the thriller "Kill Switch" for Netflix starring Jake Gyllenhaal, as well as the film "Code Black" for Amazon.

His activities extend to include the series "Trigger Point" with A24, and adapting the novel "My Wife and I Bought a Ranch," which started as a horror story on Reddit.

The original story, published on April 5, 2026, is based on accurate field reports that involved the elite journalists of the New York Times, giving the film a realistic touch far from mere fiction.
