Gaza Evacuation of patients halted due to the closure of Rafah crossing

Khaberni - The Crossings and Borders Authority in the Gaza Strip announced a complete halt to the evacuation of patients and the injured through the Rafah land crossing for tomorrow, due to the Israeli action of closing the crossing and preventing the travel of patients.
This decision comes amid the continuing Israeli restrictions on the movement of travelers through the crossing, which is the only land outlet for the residents of the enclave towards the outside world.

Field reports have indicated that the Israeli authorities have informed the relevant parties about the cancellation of coordination regarding the travel of patients and the injured, prompting the Authority to announce a complete suspension of medical evacuation trips.

Field data indicates that Rafah crossing, which was partially and experimentally reopened recently, remains under strict Israeli security surveillance, where only a very limited number of medical cases are allowed to depart daily, subject to pre-approval security lists.

The health sector in Gaza is suffering from an almost complete collapse, with health institutions estimating the presence of more than 18,000 patients and injured in desperate need of treatment abroad, including cases facing the actual risk of death due to the lack of advanced medical facilities inside the besieged enclave.

The humanitarian crisis is worsening with the continued obstacles imposed by Israel on the entry of medical supplies and spare parts needed to operate equipment and electrical generators in hospitals.
