Industry and Trade We have not detected or received complaints about monopoly in the markets

Khaberni - The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply confirmed that it has not observed nor received any reports or complaints from citizens about the existence of monopolistic practices or refusal to sell in the markets recently, noting that the local markets are witnessing stability in the availability of various goods in sufficient quantities, despite the global conditions and supply chain disruptions.

The Ministry explained that it continues to intensify regulatory tours in the market, where it recorded 189 violations against commercial establishments that did not comply with the provisions of the Industry and Trade Law and related legislation, from the beginning of April to the 18th of the same month, most notably 151 violations related to the non-disclosure of prices.

The Ministry added that the violations also included 12 cases of selling at a price different from the advertised price, and 15 cases of selling at prices higher than the set price.

The Ministry indicated that the Market Control Directorate dealt with 138 complaints received from citizens through various channels, where necessary actions were taken to address them, reflecting the speed of response and effectiveness of the oversight.

The regulatory teams of the ministry conducted 277 inspection tours, covering 4613 visits to commercial establishments in various provinces of the kingdom, to ensure their compliance with the instructions and regulations in force.

The Ministry affirmed that the Market Control Directorate continues to implement the provisions of the Industry and Trade Law No. 18 of 1998, which includes oversight of the availability and prices of basic food goods, verifying price declarations and compliance with them, monitoring the stock of wholesale traders, as well as controlling practices related to hiding goods or refusing to sell them, and monitoring discounts, liquidations, and promotional offers.
