Robot Breaks Human World Record for Beijing Half Marathon

Khaberni -  A humanoid robot managed to win today's robot half marathon in Beijing, crossing the distance at a speed faster than the human world record, showcasing China's leaps in technology.

The winning robot from "Honor", a Chinese smartphone manufacturing company, completed the race, which covers 21 kilometers (13 miles), in 50 minutes and 26 seconds, according to a post on "WeChat" by the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area, also known as "Beijing E-Town", which witnessed the start of the marathon.

That was faster than the human world record holder, Ugandan Jacob Kiplimo, who completed the same distance in about 57 minutes, last March.

The robot's performance represents a significant step forward compared to last year's inaugural race where the winning robot finished the distance in two hours, 40 minutes, and 42 seconds.

This year's event was nearly five times larger than last year's, with more than 100 teams competing, including five teams from abroad.

However, the marathon was not without its hitches as one of the robots fell at the start line, and another collided with a barrier.
