Khaberni - Professor Mohammad Nour Al-Tarawneh has achieved a significant scientific milestone represented in the registration and publication of two innovations in the United States within the fields of sustainable catalysis and biomass conversion. This step reflects a research advancement with a practical dimension in energy and material technologies.
The achievement includes obtaining an American patent granted with the number (US 12,558,680 B1), which pertains to the development of a hybrid catalyst supported by biochar and silica, designed for achieving high efficiency and selectivity in the hydrogenation processes of unsaturated hydrocarbons, alongside improving stability, reducing energy requirements, and enhancing conversion performance.
The milestone also includes a published American patent application bearing the number (US 2026/0071244 A1), which presents an innovative process for producing anhydrous sugars from lignocellulosic biomass, enabling the conversion of biological resources into valuable intermediate chemicals, within a framework that supports the sustainable use of natural resources.
This work highlights a forward-thinking scientific approach towards developing technological solutions that contribute to enhancing the efficiency of biomass utilization and reducing environmental impact. This aligns with global transformation pathways towards more sustainable sources of energy and materials, and reinforces the presence of Jordanian scientific research in the fields of applied innovation at the international level.
