A drink that improves mood in 10 minutes

Khaberni - Experts indicate that listening to upbeat music, exercising, or taking alternating water showers can have a quick effect in 5-10 minutes. But what to do if there is not enough strength to do that.

Dr. Roman Prestanski, a nutrition expert, identifies foods that serve as emergency "happiness pills," and why not all fats are beneficial for mood.

He says: "Any type of sweets or carbohydrates gives us quick energy. Simply, our evolutionary mechanisms respond to quick energy, like fruits or chocolate."

According to him, there are foods that provide an immediate boost of energy, and prolong and enhance the state of happiness. It turns out that green tea is the best among them.

He says: "Well-brewed green tea improves mood due to its high content of theanine, an amino acid linked to the absorption and reabsorption of serotonin, the hormone responsible for a positive mood and an optimistic outlook on life. One or two cups, prepared properly— with water at a temperature of 85-90 degrees Celsius, and not boiled—are sufficient."

The expert suggests that if a piece of chocolate fits within the calorie intake, it can be consumed to improve mood.

He says: "But a person will not feel happy with fats because they are a large source of energy necessary for the production of the hormones estrogen and testosterone. Carbohydrates play a main role in the process of feeling happiness, while fats are a supplementary material."
