The Municipality Launch of New Traffic Violations Monitoring System in Amman Details

Khaberni - The Greater Amman Municipality announced the start of traffic violations radar systems operation on several main streets within its boundaries, starting tomorrow, Sunday, in the framework of its pursuit to enhance traffic safety and reduce accidents.

The operation of these radars comes as part of an integrated plan to improve compliance with traffic rules, and control serious violations such as speeding, red-light running, and sudden lane changes at traffic lights, in addition to stopping or parking on pedestrian crossings.

The municipality selected the locations of these radars based on field traffic studies that targeted the points most prone to accidents and congestion.

The activation of all components of the project will be completed this month by 28/04, including 20 radars, traffic light cameras, and Point To Point cameras for calculating and controlling average speeds.

The municipality has enhanced all the mentioned sites with clear traffic signs specifying the set speeds on each axis, ensuring that drivers are pre-alerted and compliance with traffic rules is increased.

In this regard, Engineer Shadi Al-Rawabdeh, Director of Traffic Operations, confirmed that this project is a qualitative step in developing the traffic monitoring system in the capital, noting that the use of modern technologies will contribute to improving traffic flow and reducing dangerous behaviors on the roads.

He added that the primary goal of implementing this system is to enhance the culture of traffic compliance and accident prevention, not just to issue violations. He urged drivers to adhere to the traffic laws and regulations for their safety and the safety of others.

Below is a list of the system locations that will be activated within the boundaries of the municipality:
