Khaberni - Iran announced on Saturday that it is studying "new" proposals it received from the United States as part of mediation efforts led by Pakistan to put a final end to the war in the Middle East.
A statement from the Secretary-General of the Supreme National Security Council published by the official news agency (IRNA) said: "In recent days, through the visit of the Pakistani Army chief, new proposals were presented.. Tehran is currently considering them, and has not yet responded."
The Pakistani military announced on Saturday that its chief had concluded a 3-day visit to Tehran, during which he met with senior Iranian officials and negotiators in the context of efforts to end the war in the Middle East.
The military mentioned in a statement issued before anticipated talks between Tehran and Washington in Islamabad in the coming days, that the Pakistani Army chief, Asim Munir, met with a number of senior Iranian leaders during the visit, demonstrating "Pakistan’s firm resolve to facilitate a negotiated settlement."
The talks in Islamabad between Washington and Tehran ended without reaching an agreement, but diplomatic efforts continued thereafter.
A second round of talks is expected to be held in Islamabad next week.
