Khaberni - Today, Saturday, the Iraqi governorate of Dhi Qar witnessed a bloody dispute between two families that resulted in deaths and injuries following disagreements and a fight that escalated to the use of firearms.
The spark of the dispute was ignited following a fight between children whose families live next to each other in the Karmashiyya area of Kerma Beni Sa'id near the Suq al-Shuyukh, which escalated and turned into a conflict where light and medium firearms were used.
A security source told the Iraqi "Shafaq News" agency: "The dispute resulted in the death of one person and the injury of three others with varying wounds."
The security forces dispatched large reinforcements to the site of the clash to control the situation and pursue those involved in this bloody dispute, amid an intense security alert to contain the dispute and prevent its expansion.
There are no official statistics available for the number of murders that occur annually in Iraq, but social media and daily newspapers abound with many incidents from time to time in various provinces of Iraq.
From time to time, Iraq records murders due to disputes and tribal conflicts, the most recent of which was an armed dispute that occurred a few days ago between members of two tribes in the Anbar governorate over an old vendetta, resulting in the killing of three people and wounding others.
Many confirm with each armed conflict that the escalation of such bloody confrontations is due to the absence of effective deterrence and the proliferation of weapons among citizens, and they emphasize the necessity of enforcing the law and monopolizing weapons in the hands of the state to avoid the recurrence of such tragic incidents that claim dozens of lives annually.
