Axios Negotiations for the Delivery of Tehrans Uranium in Exchange for the Release of 20 Billion Dollars

Khaberni - The American media site "Axios" (AXIOS) revealed on Saturday that sensitive negotiations are taking place between the United States and Iran regarding a three-page diplomatic plan aimed at ending the ongoing war between the two sides.

The site quoted American officials and sources familiar with the behind-the-scenes discussions that one of the main elements currently under discussion involves Washington's release of 20 billion dollars from Iran's frozen assets, in exchange for Tehran's commitment to hand over its entire stockpile of enriched uranium.

This proposition is the mainstay of the ongoing talks, as the American administration is keenly working to reduce Iran's nuclear capabilities, particularly concerning a stockpile estimated at about 2000 kilograms, which includes quantities nearing military-use enrichment levels.

Despite reports of relative progress in this area, the core details remain subject to tough negotiations, especially regarding the mechanism for disbursing the funds and the terms of their use, as well as determining the fate of the nuclear materials; whether by transferring them to a third country or reducing their enrichment levels under strict international supervision.

These movements come amid an atmosphere of uncertainty surrounding the status of the Iranian nuclear stockpile since the "Israeli" American strikes in June 2025 and what followed this year, as inspection operations conducted by the International Atomic Energy Agency have halted.

In this regard, Western sources raise questions about the accuracy of the Iranian data; as American and "Israeli" intelligence reports indicate the presence of about 1200 kg of uranium enriched to 20 percent, a figure far exceeding the 180 kg announced by the UN agency before the outbreak of the wars.

Concern also dominates European diplomatic circles about the possibility of Tehran establishing secret nuclear sites before the outbreak of the 2025 conflict, especially after inspectors were prevented from visiting some facilities.

These circles emphasize that the return of inspection teams to work is a necessary and preemptive condition for any final agreement, to ensure transparency and dispel doubts about the existing nuclear capabilities.
