Khaberni - American President Donald Trump said on Saturday that his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping is "very happy" with the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, and that he is looking forward to their upcoming meeting in China.
Trump stated via the Truth Social platform, “President Xi is very happy with the opening of the Strait of Hormuz and the speed of its opening. Our meeting in China will be special, and perhaps historic. I look forward to meeting President Xi, and we will achieve much together".
Iran had announced the opening of the Strait of Hormuz after the temporary ceasefire in Lebanon came into effect last Thursday.
The war waged by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28th was a new point of tension between Washington and Beijing, which is the main buyer of Iranian oil, following the trade tariff war.
The American president will meet his Chinese counterpart on May 14 and 15 during his first visit to China in eight years, after the visit was postponed due to the war on Iran.
Trump had stated in March that he would host Xi in a similar visit to Washington later this year, without comment from the Chinese side.
The last visit of Trump to China, in 2017, was the most recent by an American president. Trump's upcoming visit will be the first face-to-face meeting between the leaders since their meeting in October in South Korea, where they agreed on a trade truce.
