Oil Prices Drop 10 Following Announcement to Reopen Strait of Hormuz

Khaberni  - Oil prices dropped on Friday after Iran announced it would fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz for the remaining period of the ceasefire in the Middle East.

The price of North Sea Brent crude and West Texas Intermediate crude in the United States fell to below $90.

On Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to maritime navigation for the remaining period of the ceasefire in the Middle East, following Israel's agreement to a truce with Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Araghchi wrote on the X platform, "In light of the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage of all commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz will be fully available for the remainder of the ceasefire period," noting that this will be "via the coordinated route as announced by the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization."

There is a ceasefire agreement between Iran and the United States lasting two weeks, which came into effect on the night of April 7-8, while the ceasefire in Lebanon began from Thursday night to Friday, for a duration of ten days.
