Khaberni - The General Secretariat of the "King Faisal International Prize", in its 48th session, today Thursday, announced the honoring of the Jordanian academic, Dr. Mohammad Wahib Hussein from Hashemite University, with the King Faisal Prize in the field of Islamic studies, concerning "Trade Routes in the Islamic World".
The award was granted to Dr. Wahib for his work on "Trade Routes in the Islamic World", which was distinguished by its high scientific value and clear originality; it was based on direct archaeological surveys, supported by precise coordinate documentation using Global Positioning Systems (GPS), alongside detailed analytical maps that enhanced the reliability of the results.
His methodology was marked by scientific rigor through correlating Quranic texts with geographical and field data, contributing to a balanced scientific interpretation of the Thilaf trade route in its geographical and historical context, making his work a qualitative addition in documenting early trade routes in the Arabian Peninsula.
The King Faisal Prize has been awarded since 1977 by the King Faisal Foundation, in recognition of individuals and institutions for their distinguished achievements in five categories: Service to Islam, Islamic studies, the Arabic language and literature, medicine, and science.
