Khaberni - An Israeli raid on Thursday destroyed a main bridge in South Lebanon, the last one connecting the southern and northern regions of the Litani River, according to the official national media agency.
The agency reported, "The hostile war aviation launched two consecutive raids targeting the Al-Qasmiyah bridge, the remaining passage connecting the area of Tyre to the city of Sidon, completely destroying it."
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun considered that the ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel should "naturally lead" to the upcoming direct negotiations with Israel.
Aoun said, according to a statement issued by the presidency, "The ceasefire requested by Lebanon with Israel will be the natural entrance for the direct negotiations between the two countries," after two days from the first direct talks held in the United States between the ambassadors of Lebanon and Israel, where they agreed to conduct direct negotiations at a later date.
The presidential statement, which came after Aoun's meeting with the British State Minister for Middle East Affairs Hamish Falconer, did not mention any expected contact between a Lebanese official and Israel, as previously announced by US President Donald Trump.
And since March 2, 2026, the Israeli occupation army has successively destroyed four main bridges on the Litani River, which divides South Lebanon into two parts.
